Built in 1971 at a cost of 35 Million US, Texas Stadium is home to the NFL great Dallas Cowboys. The home of America’s Team has been the scene of many great moments for the 65,675 fans that attend games. It was originally built to replace the aging Cotton Bowl Stadium and was supposed to be a domed Stadium but two things changed that. Firstly, they ran out of public funding, and secondly, the stadium could not have held the roof. This turned out to be a great thing for the Cowboys because it made them unique and as D.D. Lewis said “The hole in the roof is so that GOD can watch this team”.

In the middle of the 2002 Dallas Cowboys schedule the Astro Turf was replaced by a somewhat softer surface called RealGrass. This was welcomed by most of the Dallas Players at the time, especially the soon to be Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith and Hall of Famers Troy Aikman and Micheal Irvin.

The end of an era will come in 2009 when the Dallas Cowboys will move to their new Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Jerry Jones, the great owner of the team, unveiled his plans for the New Texas Stadium and although we will lose a NFL Shrine we will be gaining a NFL oasis.
